Pesto is the Besto!

Months of speculation surrounding the future of one of Sheffield’s oldest pubs, the Waggon and Horses, has finally come to an end thanks to a £350,000 joint investment from Pesto Restaurants and Spirit Pub Company, creating 30 new jobs in the process.

After eating there last night and seeing the place full of customers enjoying the delicious food, I’m more than happy to place a link in our LINKS section as well as saying a big “well done” to the team at Pesto at the Waggon and Horses for bringing this much-loved pub back to life!

We enjoyed Crocchette di pesce (cod fishcakes), Pizzetta Margherita, Pizzetta pepperoni, Pollo alla cacciatora (chicken in a red wine sauce), Penne con pollo al dragoncello (Penne pasta with chicken in a mascarpone and tarragon sauce) and Arancini (balls of saffron risotto rice stuffed with mozzarella). The portions are small and perfectly flavoured, making a for an enjoyable evening sampling nibbles from all the different plates!

Friends of Millhouses Park Close to Fundraising Target

Nick Clegg visited Millhouses Park to see progress on the restoration of our Mill Buildings on Monday 28th January and commented, “I am hugely impressed by the plans and I would urge everyone to get involved, particularly with the efforts to raise the necessary funding. A mill has been on this site for more than 1,000 years. I’m sure that with a little help and support, this exciting project will see the mill remain an asset for the local community for many more years to come.”
