Ken Allen
We had some very sad news this Christmas: Ken Allen, a very active member of Friends of Millhouses Park died suddenly on Boxing Day.
Ken was a keen and enthusiastic volunteer who was a true friend of the group. He helped on every project in recent years including tree planting, bulb planting, gardening, clean ups, duck races and helping at events. He was particularly involved with the sensory and herbaceous gardens. Ken’s enthusiasm, expertise and dependability will be greatly missed by the rest of the volunteers. His passing is a sad loss to the park and the community and he will be greatly missed.
Our thoughts are with his widow, Hilary and the family.

Thanks to the 17 Cubs with 2 scouts and leaders from the 181st St Chads Cubs for helping to clean up the Park on Thursday evening 8th October. Thanks also to the 17 FoMP volunteers, including five children, plus Grahame Lister from the Park Rangers, who collected a further 16 bags of rubbish the following Sunday and left the park looking pristine. Let us hope we can keep it like this.

Autumn Bird watching walk
On Saturday 7 November another of the hugely popular bird watching walks will be taking place.
If you would like to join in meet at 08:00 at the foot of the steps into Millhouses Park from Archer Road. The walk will go through the park returning through Ecclesall Woods and should take 2 to 2.5 hours. If the weather is kind you should encounter a range of resident birds and hopefully see autumn migrants flying over. A number of pairs of binoculars are available to borrow on the day.
