8.00 am Saturday 30th April
Meet at the steps into the park from the bridge on Archer Road. Several pairs of binoculars available to lend out for the walk. Everyone welcome as always.
Last April’s walk produced 33 species. In the last couple of weeks a pair of Kingfishers have been displaying along the Sheaf. No guarantees but it would be nice to get a sighting of the Park’s iconic bird which has proved elusive on recent spring walks.
For further information on finding birds in the Millhouses Park/Ecclesall Woods/ Tyzack’s Dam area look at the Sheffield Bird Study Group website at
At the end of the guide there’s a “Recent Records” link which lists everything that’s been reported in the area over the previous weeks. Worth a look.

Many thanks for those who turned out to clear the litter along the river banks through the park, it was a friendly, productive and rewarding few hours.
Pete Stow provided bags, litter pickers and gloves for all and we collected some two dozen bags of rubbish.
We will need to gather again to do the Abbeydale Road South hedge bottoms which have gathered a lot of rubbish over the last few weeks.
Can we ask all members to do what they can to reduce the litter as they walk round so we present a clean and tidy park?
Again, a job well done and special thanks to Pete Stow for the organisation.

We have been informed, this morning, that our bid for £50,000 for the outdoor gym, young children’s undulating roadway, life expired poplar tree replacement and new park signage has been awarded.
This is fantastic news and there has to be a big “Thank You” to Kate Stow for instigating and leading the bid plus the professional support and additional work by Amie Rowland.
Members Geoff Hibbard and Chris Smith have been closely involved with the roadway and Holly Barnes has added the professional tree input.
Together with input from many members this is truly a team project working in a successful partnership with Parks and Countryside staff.
This money will make a significant difference to our park and be enjoyed for many years to come. Gosh it feels good this week! Well done everyone.
