On Saturday 3 November the Autumn Bird Walk will take place, setting off at 8am from the bottom of the steps into the park from Archer Road. This leisurely walk will go through the park to Tyzack’s Dam and back through Ecclesall Woods. Everyone is welcome to join in, and binoculars will be available to borrow.
Join in with the Autumn gardening at the Sensory Garden from 10-12 on Sunday 11 November. Pruning, digging and weeding will be the order of the day! Gloves and some tools will be available, but do feel free to bring your own.

We are incredibly proud and beyond delighted that the park has been awarded a Platinum Award from Yorkshire in Bloom 2018. Huge thanks are due to all the hardworking park staff and Friends of Millhouses Park volunteers who made this possible.
To Keep the park in tip top shape there will be a litter pick and clean up of the park on Sunday 30th September from 10 to 12pm. We will meet as usual at the cafe and we will supply litter pickers, gloves and sacks. I hope you can come along and please spread the word.

Thornberry Animal Sanctuary will be holding an event in Millhouses Park on Sunday 30th September 2018 from 12-4pm. They will be raising some much needed funds for their kennel refurbishment. The event will consist of a Dog Walk around the perimeter of the park and a dog show consisting of two show rings with a selection of trade stalls selling Doggy related goods, and an Artisan Market featuring exhibits including local artists and craft stalls.

This Saturday the Friends of Millhouses Park will be back with our fabulous free duck races at the fishpass in the park.
The ducks will race on the hour every hour from 11 til 4 – choose your duck early to avoid disappointment!
Should the weather scupper the event we will postpone til Sunday or Monday and keep you updated on Facebook and our website

Open to all interested folk, the next Millhouses Park Bird Watching Walk will be on Saturday 28 April. Meet at 8am at the foot of the steps into the park from Archer Road. The walk is a fairly leisurely stroll and should take about two and a half hours.

SCC is currently considering a plan to fence off and lease an area of the park from the public for private business use. This sets a worrying precedent that the park is seen as a commodity. The Friends group strongly opposes this: the whole park should remain free for all to use.

Our customary Autumn bird watching walk will be on Saturday 4th November 2017. Meet at the foot of the steps into the park from Archer Road at 8am. The gentle walk through the park to Tyzack’s Dam, returning through part of Ecclesall Woods will last about two and a half hours and, as ever, all are welcome. Binoculars will be available to borrow.
